I was surprised when I went
out to the trap this morning as it was raining and appeared to have been doing
so for a while as the forecast was for a dry night. The trap was quite wet but it still turned
out to be a good catch with 130 moths covering twenty-four species but none were
new for the year.
The following were recorded:
Amblyptilia acanthadactyla [1]; Pyrausta aurata [1]; Agriphila straminella [1];
Agriphila geniculea [4]; Brown China-mark [1]; Common Carpet [1];
Double-striped Pug [3]; Brimstone Moth [11]; Canary-shouldered Thorn [1]; Dusky
Thorn [8]; Willow Beauty [2]; Burnished Brass [1]; Silver Y [2]; Copper
Underwing [2]; Angle Shades [3]; Flounced Rustic [1]; Centre-barred Sallow
[11]; Flame Shoulder [1]; Small Square-spot [2]; Large Yellow Underwing [44];
Lesser Yellow Underwing [12]; Square-spot Rustic [4] and Steaceous Hebrew
Character [1].
