An early morning in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire - May 31, 2018


I trapped and identified sixty moths last night covering twenty-eight species, which was clearly the best night of the year.  There were twelve new for the year of which, Azalea Leaf Miner, was a lifer.

The following were recorded: Common Swift [2]; Azalea Leaf Miner [1]; Light Brown Apple Moth [2]; Green Oak Tortrix [3]; Notocelia trimaculana [1]; Eyed Hawk-moth [1];, Common Marbled Carpet [1]; Green Carpet [2]; Green Pug [1]; Foxglove Pug [1]; White-spotted Pug [1]; Common Pug [5]; Mottled Pug [4]; Brimstone Moth [6]; Scalloped Hazel [1]; Clouded Silver [1]; The Herald [1]; Buff Ermine [1]; White Ermine [4]; Silver Y [1]; Rustic Shoulder-knot [7]; Marbled Minor species [1]; Bright-line Brown-eye [1]; Common Wainscot [1]; Heart and Dart [6]; Shuttle-shaped Dart [2]; Flame Shoulder [1] and The Gothic [1].
