A late morning early afternoon in Northwest Leicestershire - May 28, 2017

My wife and I went to a garden centre in Thornton with the intention of walking around the reservoir later, but it was crowded with cars parking along the road we decided to go to Beacon Hill.

We walked from the car park to the top of the hill and then dropped down on the northeast side before walking around the path back to the car park.  It was quiet bird-wise and there was no sign of the hoped for Tree Pipit.  I did see a Green Woodpecker, a couple of Barn Swallow around the car park and heard two Willow Warbler and a Blackcap.

From Beacon Hill we went to Swithland Reservoir where we had a sandwich but like Beacon Hill it was quiet.  There were four Common Terns over the water and I had a brief view of a Common Buzzard and another Green Woodpecker with best bird being a Grey Wagtail that flew over the dam calling.
