An early morning moth trapping in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire - September 3, 2014

There were 125 moths trapped and identified covering twenty-four species, one of which was new, Dichrorampha acuminatana, and two other new for the year, Centre-barred Sallow and Rosy Rustic.  The Buff Ermine was unexpected as their flight period is normally mid May to July.

The following were recorded: Diamond-back Moth [2]; Blastobasis adustella [1]; Light Brown Apple Moth [2]; Garden Rose Torytrix [5]; Celypha lacunana [1]; Dichrorampha acuminatana [1]; Agriphila tristella [1]; Agriphila geniculea [13]; Garden Pebble [1]; Chinese Character [4]; Common Marbled Carpet [3]; Brimstone Moth [1]; Dusky Thorn [1]; Buff Ermine [1]; Flame Shoulder [1]; Large Yellow Underwing [44]; Lesser Yellow Underwing [20]; Setaceous Hebrew Character [3]; Square-spot Rustic [9]; Centre-barred Sallow [1]; Marbled Beauty [1]; Flounced Rustic [4]; Rosy Rustic [1]; Vine’s Rustic [4].
