An early morning moth trapping in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire - August 8, 2014

The trap was out again last night as it may be the last chance for a while.  It was a slightly better night with 164 being trapped and identified and three more new for the year including a lifer.


The following were recorded: Orange Swift [3]; Ermine species [1]; Bird-cherry Ermine [1]; Diamnond-back Moth [2]; Borkhausenia fuscescens [2]; Blastobasis adustella [2]; Agapeta hamana [1]; Light Brown Apple Moth [11]; Calamotropha paludella [1]; Chrysoteuchia culmella [1]; Agriphila straminella [45]; Agriphila tristella [6]; Agriphila geniculea [1]; Pyrausta aurata [3]; Anania coronate [1]; Mother of Pearl [5]; Acrobasis advenella [1]; Small Fan-footed Wave [1]; Riband Wave [6]; Garden Carpet [1]; Common Carpet [2]; Lime-speck Pug [1]; Tawny Speckled Pug [1]; Magpie [1]; Brimstone Moth [2]; Canary-shouldered Thorn [1]; Dusky Thorn [2]; Willow Beauty [10]; Yellow-tail [1]; Shuttle-shaped Dart [1]; Large Yellow Underwing [4]; Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing [2]; Small Square-spot [2]; Six-striped Rustic [1]; Nutmeg [1]; Cabbage Moth [2]; Marbled Beauty [17]; Dark Arches [1]; Common Rustic species [10] and Straw Dot [6].
