An early morning moth trapping in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire - August 7, 2014

I put the moth trap out last night and trapped and identified 129 moths of thirty-nine species that included five new for the year, two of which were lifers.

The following were recorded: Orange Swift [1]; Caloptilia rufipennella [1]; Horse-chestnut Leaf Miner [3]; Ermine species [3]; Brown House Moth [2]; Blastobasis adustella [8]; Light Brown Apple Moth [7]; Cydia splendana [1]; Calamotropha paludella [1]; Agriphila straminella [25]; Agriphila tristella [6]; Agriphila geniculea [1]; Eudonia mercurella [2]; Pyrausta aurata [2]; Mother of Pearl [3]; Acrobasis [1]; Euzophera pinguis [2]; Blood-vein [1]; Riband Wave [3]; Red Twin-spot Carpet [1]; Dark Umber [1]; Magpie [1]; Brimstone Moth [4]; Dusky Thorn [1]; Willow Beauty [11]; Iron Prominent [1]; Dingy Footman [1]; Flame Shoulder [1]; Large Yellow Underwing [1]; Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing [3]; Marbled Beauty [3]; Copper Underwing [1]; Brown Rustic [1]; Angle Shades [1]; Dark Arches [1]; Common Rustic species [18]; Burnished Brass [1]; Spectacle [1] and Straw Dot [3].
