An early morning moth trapping in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire - July 2, 2014

I had over slept and could find only a couple of moths outside the trap and presumably the House Sparrows had been well fed.  I still trapped sixty-four moths covering twenty-six species, which included three new for the year.

The following were recorded: Crassa unitella [1]; Cnephasia sp. [1]; Celypha striana [1]; Celypha lacunana [1]; Ancylis achatana [1]; Chrysoteuchia culmella [8]; Crambus pascuella [2]; Garden Pebble [1]; Riband Wave [1]; Foxglove Pug [1]; Brimstone Moth [2]; Swallow-tailed Moth [1]; Poplar Hawkmoth [1]; Common Footman [2]; Buff Ermine [1]; Cinnabar [1]; Heart and Dart [5]; Flame [1]; Bright-line Brown-eye [3]; Small Angle Shade [1]; Dark Arches [16]; Light Arches [1]; Uncertain [5]; Rustic [4]; Golden Plusia [1] and The Fan-foot [1].
