Dave, Roger and I went to
Pitsford Reservoir in Northamptonshire as there had been two Great White Egrets
reported yesterday. As we pulled up on
the causeway Roger noted an egret in the Holcot Bay, which turned out to be one
of the Greta White Egrets but we couldn’t find the second during our visit. A single Pintail and more unusually a single
eclipse/juvenile Ruddy Duck were also observed and there were at least six
Little Egrets. A Sparrowhawk was also
observed on a couple occasions and there were at least nine Tree Sparrows at
the feeding station.
We paid a brief visit to
Saddington Reservoir on the way home but other than another four Little Egrets
there was nothing else of note.
