Dave and I went to Stanford
Reservoir as there had been an Osprey present for a while.
The weather had been quite
pleasant this morning being sunny with light southwest winds and ideal
conditions for an Osprey to move, so I wasn’t too optimistic. We couldn’t find the bird despite spending
over two hours at the reservoir and we assumed it had gone.
There was plenty of wildfowl
present and we did find a single Barnacle Goose and a Shelduck amongst a mixed
flock of Greylag and Canada Geese. We
also saw a couple of Sparrowhawks, three Buzzard, a Peregrine and a Great
Spotted Woodpecker. There was at least
one Kingfisher calling at the inlet and although Dave had brief views I failed
to it.
