An evening at Rutland Water, Rutland - May 16, 2013

This was a late evening visit to hopefully see a reported Temminck’s Stint.  When we arrived we went straight to dunlin hide on lagoon four but there was no sign of the stint.  We could see Matthew in plover hide and a phone call later we were on our way to plover hide where Matthew was watching the stint.  It was on the back of island five and not visible from either dunlin or sandpiper hides.  We watched the bird feeding on island five before it took flight and then Roger located it closer on island two.  There was a rather smart Turnstone present and a summer plumage Sanderling was also present.  There were at least ten Ringed Plovers but we could only find four Dunlin and I saw a Little Ringed Plover in flight.
