A brief afternoon at Saddington Reservoir & Gumley - April 8, 2013

Dave and I decided to go out to Saddington Reservoir to see if there were any summer migrants.

It was quite cool when we arrived but nothing like the temperatures of last week but there was no sign of any migrants.  There were three male and two female Goosander present and five Cormorant.  A Kingfisher also flew low over the water but Dave missed it and we didn’t see it again.  It was my first Kingfisher of the year so it made the visit worthwhile.

We moved on to Gumley and walked through the small wood at the top of the hill where we found a Nuthatch and heard a Coal Tit calling.  We also had two Buzzard, one flying low over the wood and the other perched on a post.
