An early morning in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire - July 31, 2016

A much colder night last night resulted in a much smaller catch with just sixty-six moths, covering thirty-seven species, trapped and identified with just two new for the year.


The following were recorded: Ermine species [2]; Diamond-back Moth [2]; Blastobasis adustella [1]; Epiphyas postvittana [2]; Acleris variegana [1]; Celypha striana [1]; Leopard Moth [1]; Euzophera pinguis [2]; Anania coronate [3]; Chrysoteuchia culmella [4]; Crambus pascuella [1]; Crambus perlella [1]; Pebble Hook-tip [1]; Chinese Character [1]; Poplar Hawkmoth [1]; Small Dusty Wave [1]; Riband Wave [3]; Brimstone Moth [1]; Scalloped Oak [1]; Willow Beauty [3]; White Satin Moth [1]; Buff Ermine [1]; Ruby Tiger [1]; Scarce Footman [1]; Marbled Beauty [4]; The Uncertain [1]; Dusky Brocade [1]; Dark Arches [7]; Common Rustic species [10]; Cloaked Minor [1]; Marbled Minor species [1]; Bright-line Brown-eye [1]; Common Wainscot [1]; Smoky Wainscot [1]; Shuttle-shaped Dart [1]; Lesser Yellow Underwing [1] and Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing [1].
