An early morning at Newton Harcourt, Leicestershire - September 2, 2012


David put his moth trap again last night but the catch was not significant thirty-three moths of seventeen species.  There were three we had not caught previously this year, Ypsolopha scabrella, Brindled Green and Mouse Moth an Ypsolopha scabrella was a new species for me.
The following were trapped: Willow Beauty [1]; Ypsolopha scabrella [1]; Chrysoteuchia culmella [2]; Agriphila  straminella [1]; Agriphila geniculea [1]; Mother of Pearl [1]; Green Carpet [1]; Brimstone Moth [2]; Garden Dart [2]; Large Yellow Underwing [5]; Lesser Yellow Underwing [5]; Setaceous Hebrew Character [2]; Square-spot Rustic [2]; Brindled Green [1]; Mouse Moth [1]; Flounced Rustic [2]; Burnished Brass [1]; and Silver Y [2].
