A day’s birding at Rutland Water, Rutland - June 12, 2012

Mainly went to photograph insects but it was far too cold and very few were seen.  I walked via the summer trail to sandpiper hide on lagoon four where there were three Oystercatcher, a single Avocet, four Little Ringed Plovers, three Ringed Plovers, six Dunlin and a Redshank.  There were also six Little Egret feeding on the lagoon, which is probably one of the few areas that is now suitable for feeding due the high water levels.

After some lunch I went around to harrier hide where the Barn Owl performed well for a few minutes.
It was a fairly quiet day on all fronts.
